In Nov., 2014, the 4th Asian Beach Games were held on the Thai tourist destination of Phuket Island, with 2,400 athletes participating.  The number of sporting events went up to 26 (the highest number since the founding of the Games), held on 6 Phuket beaches. 43 Asian countries and regions participated.
