In 2010, the 2nd Asian Beach Games were held in Muscat, Oman. Since the Games were not yet widely known, the Triathlon, Windsurfing, and Paragliding competitions were removed, reducing the total number of sporting events to 14, and the number of participating athletes dropped even more dramatically to only 1,200.
However, with the support of the Games, the young people of Oman actively promoted domestic sports and environmental development, and in order to commemorate the occasion, Oman and Sudan designated the date of the Asian Beach Games opening ceremony, Dec. 8, as “Oman Environment Day”.

It’s worth mentioning that the Hainan University women’s Woodball Team, representing the China National Team, won a bronze medal. This was the first time for that school to participate in an intercontinental sports competition and win a medal.
